How
Carbon Trading & Ecotourism will work
It's
easy enough to think how carbon trading will work
for a manufacturer. Any company that has a manufacturing
process that causes carbon gases to escape into
the atmosphere will either have to reduce it's
emissions to an agreed level, or face paying fines.
They will be allowed to buy carbon credits to
off-set these fines, but only from the open market
where prices will fluctuate.
Carbon
Trading & Ecotourism - Airflights
The
obvious polluters in Ecotourism are the air flights,
so they will be forced to clean up their act (by
forcing air engine manufacturers to develop less
polluting engines) or face big fines. But of course,
they will plead that they could go out of business
unless they put up the prices of flights. Aha
..... this is where we as individuals, may be
able to buy carbon credits to help pay for air
flights.
Carbon
Trading & Ecotourism - Individual Carbon Credits
Sounds
too complicated ? yes it may well be too complicated
for individuals to take part in a carbon trading
scheme. On the other hand, if you as an individual
are doing something at home to lower your emissions
(eg using solar power) then it should be possible
for you as an individual to collect carbon credits
from your own actions - which can then be used
to off-set your airflight.
Carbon
Trading & Ecotourism - the future of air travel
As
I write this in October 2008, greater minds than
mine are currently working it all out. Don't worry,
we will get ripped off and we will have to pay
more for our airflights and ecotourism travel,
or any form of travel, will drop off considerably.
Countries
like Australia, who rely on overseas visitors
for their tourism income, will be hit hard. The
tourist industry will have to be creative and
gear up for hard time because, only the rich will
travel in the future.
Carbon
Trading & Ecotourism - summary
If
you are reading this, then I strongly advise you
to watch out for personal ways to aquire carbon
credits. They will be a bit like stocks &
shares which will be bought and sold in a carbon
financial market. Once you own some carbon credits,
you should be able to trade them or use them for
goods and services. Still not sure ? then read
