Introduction
to personal development in ecotourism
Personal
Development Ecotourism, Personal Growth, Coaching,
Training, Systems, Self Improvement
In
the course of your ecotourism holiday, you should
have ample opportunities for personal development
including your own personal support to the local
communities or experiencing the new environmements
that you encounter.
You
may wish to take part in more formal organised
personal development ecotourism holidays such
as the following example :
Raleigh
International is a youth development charity set
up to inspire people from all backgrounds and
nationalities to discover their full potential
by working together on challenging environmental
and community projects around the world. The training
concentrates on personal development, cultural
awareness, global issues and preparing people
for expedition life.
or
not take part in the following ecotourism example
!
Personal
development from a unique yoga holiday practicing
yoga by the pyramids and the magical Red Sea where
the yoga
holiday would be just that - a holiday. Combine
this with scuba diving, camel trekking, dolphin
spotting and plenty of time relaxing on the wonderful
beaches - this is really just what it says - a
nice holiday - is that what you want !
Personal
development and a personal commitment to ecotourism
.......
putting something back .......
If an ecotourism operator puts most of their money
which has been generated from the ecotourism business,
back into the community, then they are truly committed
to their own company development. Ultimately,
sustainability means a lifestyle that is in balance,
a lifestyle that can easily be maintained in the
future, so by setting a goal for personal development
in ecotourism, whether as a company commitment
or as a personal goal, you are assisting others,
the environment and yourself.
On a more personal note, you might consider "doing
your bit" towards achieving your personal
development by not drinking or spending time in
establishments that are not environmentally friendly.
So, don’t squander money on meaningless
matters, don’t support the bar scenes, support
the opposition, eat at food stalls or at small
locally owned restaurants in the neighbourhood
and at home. In other words, don’t waste
money on things that don’t benefit the community,
try to think about the impact on the community
with everything you do.
I’m not trying to say here that you need
to become some sort of saint, but the things that
sincerely matter to your personal development
in ecotourism, should be in line with definition
of what
is ecotourism.
Enjoy
your personal development in Ecotourism, your
personal growth, coaching skills, training through
systems and self improvement using Ecotourism
as the base.
