Whale watching ecotourism, Whale watching holidays.

Whale watching is a wonderful way to observe wild animals in their natural environment without interfering or damaging them in any way. Most organised tour boats are responsible and adhere to the rules, but be aware that you should not attempt to touch whales nor should you continually approach them in a boat. Once sighted, the boat would approach to a reasonable distance (there are rules) then it should be for the whales(s) to decide whether they want to approach you. They are often as curious about you as you are about them and will watch you as you flap your arms around thinking maybe what strange creatures we are and what purpose we serve.

Stop the killing of whales

OK, I'm not going to say anything about those terrible Japanese whale hunters who have the nerve to talk about killing these beautiful wild animals for science.

Whale watching ecotourism holidays in Iceland

Here are some of the reasons why Iceland is so popular as a whale watching destination:

There are species galore - around one quarter of the world's cetacean species have apparently been recorded in Iceland's nutrient-rich waters. Minke whale, humpback whale, blue whale, fin whale, sei whale, sperm whale, orca, pilot whale, white-beaked dolphin and harbour porpoise are regularly encountered. There are often surprises - recently three rare northern bottlenose whales showed up - whale watching in Iceland trips

Whale watching ecotourism holidays in Australia East Coast

Hervey Bay, Queensland humpback whales arrive in Hervey Bay from late July and remain until November when they begin their return to the southern ocean.

Whale watching ecotourism in Hervey Bay has become an important attraction for tourists and naturalists. In recent years visitors to Hervey Bay, from mid-July to early November, have discovered the awe inspiring experience of watching the majestic humpback whale, and their encounters with the whales on the waters of Hervey Bay have been unforgettable. These majestic creatures have made Hervey Bay a regular stop on their annual migration to Antarctica after giving birth in the warm waters of north Queensland. See the whales on board the Whalesong - I did and these are some of my pictures below. They say that if a whale blows its spray over you, then you are linked forever to that whale !

you must wave back as hard as you can
